Sarah Jane Lane

Sarah Jane Lane has always loved the outdoor life and ‘exploring’.  She studied design and photography at the London College of Fashion and has maintained a keen interest in recording what she sees, through sketching and photographing, ever since.  She moved to East Anglia almost 30 years ago and has come to love the landscape - the wide open skies, beauty and ever changing light. She has become a keen walker - most of her walking being around Northey Island and the Blackwater estuary (her family have had a connection with the island since 1923). Northey is cut off by the tide and surrounded by salt marshes, mudflats, shingle beaches and reed beds – which give it a unique and unspoilt atmosphere.  She has grown to love this landscape - its timelessness, natural beauty and the ever changing colours of the sea. This has lead her to want to paint what she sees - to capture this very special place and coastline.
