Julian Warner

Julian is a London based artist. He studied Fine Art at Trent and completed his MA at Brighton. Julian deals with the concrete qualities of colour, form, fracture in the realm of abstract painting. He leaves these elements in a state of just being, allowing the colour and form to grow, become ‘concrete’ in itself. He say’s 'It’s hard for painting to escape the pull of figuration, the world we perceive around us - but the simplest of line is enough to trigger complex recognition in us. Form emerges readily from the near formless, the abstract and the figurative have a much closer relationship than is usually admitted' Julian embraces this in his work, he challenges our perception, his paintings do not necessarily seek connection with the visible world, it is more that the forms of his art are no more abstract than the forms of stones or a scattering of stars in the night sky. He places colour and form together until it sings.
