Nicky Brown

Painting

Nicky has exhibited in New York, the Mall Galleries, Cadogan Contemporary and the Geedon Gallery and had solo shows with Cobbold and Judd. The paintings here are from her series ‘A Year On The Moor’ having studied the heather burning on the Yorkshire Moors, now an extinct practice in East Anglia.

Nicky describes her interest in the figure working in the landscape “Not just placed there but a vital part of it. There is a primordial magic about the figure of a man walking and working amidst the landscape he knows so well and has invested so much in. A Year on the Moor is an attempt to convey my fascination with man’s connection to the landscape that is being forgotten in today's frantic way of life”
